Blood cholesterol comes from two different sources, in the liver in the body and food products. Teen liver produces enough cholesterol to function properly.

Blood acts as a carrier and transports cholesterol to various body parts. They were transported in the form of spherical particles known as lipoproteins. There are two types of so-called low-density lipoprotein, lipoprotein, or LDL and high density lipoprotein or HDL. Low density lipoprotein or LDL cholesterol is commonly known as “bad cholesterol”. This helps to create a plaque in the arteries, and a condition known as atherosclerosis. LDL levels should be low in blood and, if the height had to be lowered. A healthy weight should be maintained and exercise should be done regularly. High-calorie food products, cholesterol and saturated fats should be avoided.

High low density lipoprotein and high density lipoprotein cholesterol is good cholesterol. This is actually a kind of blood fats, which helps eliminate bad cholesterol from the body and stops to build up plaques in the artery. More cholesterol HDL, the better. HDL can be increased by at least twenty minutes of exercise a day, weight loss and maintenance away from foods with saturated fat. Some teens need to take drugs to increase HDL. In such cases, increasing HDL can be a complicated procedure, and doctors can make a plan of therapy to raise HDL in the blood.

Cholesterol Screenings help to determine the level of cholesterol and fats in the blood. Children and adolescents with normal cholesterol levels in the past. Because of changing lifestyles and healthy food trend, even if they have a higher risk for developing high cholesterol levels, which also increases the risk of heart disease, which can affect blood vessels and coronary arteries. The main reason for this change is obesity, junk food with high fat, fast food nutrition, lifestyle and family history of high cholesterol. Keeping the level of cholesterol in the blood at normal is a good way to avoid high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease of the arteries.

Cholesterol levels in blood can vary from individual to individual. A healthy LDL level of less than one hundred thirty milligrams, HDL is greater than thirty five milligrams. If the HDL is less than thirty five milligrams then the adolescent at high risk of heart disease. And LDL more than one hundred thirty milligrams is dangerous. However, high LDL cholesterol is a problem in many Americans. And there are expected to increase the number, this number is unknown, teens who have a family history of high cholesterol in the blood.

Adolescent or child, parents with high blood cholesterol and family history of heart disease at an early age, must take cholesterol test at age two.
